2007 Complementary Health Care Benefits

As a Blue Cross and Blue Shield Service Benefit Plan member, you are entitled through WholeHealth Networks access to a network of complementary health care providers that offer special reduced fees.

Complementary Health Care Benefits

A $23 yearly membership provides discount access to a national network of wellness practitioners and nutritional supplements. Services include Spas and 38 practitioner specialties such as Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Massage/Bodywork, Fitness Programs (Yoga, Tai Chi/Qigong, Personal Trainers and Pilates Instructors), Holistic Physicians, Diet and Supplement Advisors, and Mind/Body and Relaxation Techniques.

You can save up to 30 percent on services and up to 50 percent on fitness club memberships, and have access to WholeHealth Networks award winning online member education tool, WholeHealthMD. You call providers directly to schedule appointments. No physician referral is required and there are no claim forms. All charges are handled directly between you and the WholeHealth Networks providers.

The discount provider network is available to members nationwide, unless restricted by state law or regulation.

Benefits under this complementary health care providers program are neither offered as part of nor guaranteed under the Blue Cross and Blue Shield contract with the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM). It is available to all enrollees and family members covered under the Service Benefit Plan. The cost of these benefits is not included in your premium. These benefits are offered to our members to provide preventive and routine care, and as an added value to their Service Benefit Plan coverage.

The discounts offered through the complementary health care providers program are not available for covered benefits as described in the 2007 Service Benefit Plan brochure (RI-71-005). The discounts may only be applied to non-covered services or after all other benefits are exhausted.
