Media Room

As you may be aware, the public health community has been monitoring a new influenza virus of swine origin, commonly referred to as Swine Influenza (Flu). We are closely following the outbreak's progress here and abroad, and in response to members' concerns, we are waiving the Prior Authorization requirements at our retail pharmacies to ensure that members have access to flu medication when prescribed by a physician. As with any prescription medication, flu medicines should be used as directed by your personal physician to limit unnecessary exposure to side-effects. Flu medications are not indicated for preventative use and are only to be used to treat active infections of the flu virus. Therefore taking these medications for prevention is not recommended.

Flu vaccination benefits were expanded retroactively to October 1. Learn more about the expanded H1N1 and Seasonal Flu vaccination benefits.
