It provides added value to your coverage in many ways, including offering a nurse advice line available to you 24 hours a day/seven days a week and online health education. It is your resource for around-the-clock information that puts you in control of managing your health decisions. Nurse Advice Line
How can the Nurse Advice Line add value to your coverage? Over the past 10 years, more than three million members have called Blue Health Connection to talk to a nurse.
If you or a family member are ill or injured, or maybe you are not sure what to do when faced with a health concern, call Blue Health Connection at 1.888.258.3432 for immediate assistance. Our registered nurses provide reliable health care advice, anytime and anywhere, and have an average of over 15 years of experience in patient care. They are supported by doctors and advance technology so that you can count on getting clinically safe information. As always, if you are in a life-threatening situation, call 911 immediately.
You also have access to a registered nurse who cares about you, your health and your health status. If you have a chronic health condition, you can call the nurse line and arrange to talk in-depth with a registered nurse about your concerns and medical questions to help you better understand your medical status.
Online Health Education
Sometimes you have more questions after seeing your physician than you did before your appointment. And if you are like most people, you don't think about your concerns and questions until you leave the doctor's office. Blue Health Connection offers a solution - a reliable source of health care information. The Blue Health Connection feature on www.fepblue.org allows you to navigate and view health care topics any time to help you with your questions and empower you to take charge of your health.
New For 2010
We want to give you more for your health care dollars. We are excited to announce some new Blue Health Connection services that will be available to you beginning January 2010.
In 2010, you can have a chat with a nurse in real time online on your computer to answer all of your health related questions. The nurse will respond to you with messages that answer your questions immediately and help you make decisions about the right care at the right time.
We hear about how we as a population are overweight. So to address this issue, we have added new programs as part of the Blue Health Assessment on www.fepblue.org. These programs include a physical activity section to help you get moving and a section on caring for diabetes to make you a healthier person. We have also added a Body Mass Index (BMI) calculator for both adults and children that gives you a great starting point to a fitness or healthy eating program.
